Global warming: CO2 or Sun
Apr 20th, 2007 by carles
Few weeks ago I watched an interesting documentary on TV about the climate change and global warming trend. It surprised me because I didn’t know that there is two theories.
After I read Trici’s blog [emigrantesindestino.com] I decided to write some lines about it. Really I am not an expert and then I used Google [google.co.uk] and I found the documentary I watched few weeks ago and an interesting web [global-warming-and-the-climate.com].
The two theories:
- CO2: It is the generally accepted one. The release of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels and from land use are responsible for the temperature increase. Further information, An Inconvenient Truth [climatecrisis.net]
- Sun: Suns magnetic field and the solar wind modulates the amount of high energy cosmic radiation that the earth receives. This in turns affects the low altitude cloud cover and how much water vapor there is in the atmosphere and thus regulates the climate. Further information,
After I watched the documentary again, I am not sure which theory is responsible of climate change. Maybe both, maybe one, maybe neither.
Although CO2 is not responsible of global warming, there is still the problem that most of the natural resources we use in order to obtain energy are limited. And sometimes producing that energy is not good for our health or for the environment.
